BUILDING THE FUTURE TOGETHER

The Missionary Shelter of Saint Dionysios of Olympus, in support of the pastoral and philanthropic work of the Missionary Holy Diocese of Arusha and Central Tanzania, places special emphasis on the field of education.
Education is the foundation of hope and social progress. It is the vehicle that leads to development, to liberation from the bonds of poverty and destitution, and to the transformation of entire communities. At the heart of our mission lies the belief that every child has the right to education. Children are the future of Tanzania, of Africa, of the world.

Our Association invests consistently in the field of education, implementing multifaceted actions that support thousands of students and families.

• Construction of New Schools

We build new schools in areas where children are forced to travel long distances or have no access to education at all. These schools are handed over to the state, benefiting the local community, strengthening public education, and serving thousands of families.

• Renovation of School Infrastructure

We upgrade existing school facilities through projects such as:

• Provision of new desks, chairs, blackboards, podiums, and furniture
• Painting and repairing of classrooms
• Creation of teachers’ offices and auxiliary spaces

A clean, safe, and pleasant environment significantly enhances the educational process.

• Distribution of School Supplies and Uniforms – Material Support

Each year, we distribute to students:

• School bags, notebooks, pencils, and books
• School uniforms, shoes, and other essential supplies

This support ensures that no child is deprived of the right to education due to lack of basic necessities. It is not merely a material offering, but an act of love and encouragement for children to continue their learning journey.

• Scholarship Program

In Tanzania, from the very first steps in schooling, education comes at a cost.
This is a major obstacle for children from poor families at every educational level. With the assistance of our Association, students are financially supported through scholarships to complete their studies. It is worth noting that many of these children excel in their academic achievements.

• Support of Religious Education

We support the teaching of Religious Studies in the schools of Iringa by covering the transportation costs of priests and catechists, so that students can come into contact with the Orthodox faith and Christian values.

• Art and Craft Exchange Program

Through this program, we connect students and teachers from schools in Greece and Tanzania. The program allows children to gain a broader understanding of the world, with respect and appreciation for both the similarities and differences among people. It fosters solidarity and awareness of social issues and the challenges faced by different nations. It cultivates bonds of friendship and promotes philanthropy, compassion, and mutual respect.

Education is the seed we plant today to reap a society of values, knowledge, and hope tomorrow. This multifaceted work is made possible through the love, contribution, and support of the members and friends of our Association. We thank you for standing by our side in this endeavor.
