HOLY CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE THEOLOGIAN IN IMBOGO

Holy Temple St. John the Theologian Ibogo with the adjacent drilling
Imbogo is a secluded village that is an hour far from the Kindamali Mission Center, home to one hundred and fifty people, former Roman-Catholics who have unanimously converted to Orthodoxy! Although their living conditions are not reminiscent of the “civilized” world, when asked what they need the most, they all shouted kanisa”, meaning Church! In order for there construction to begin, the entire village, men, women, and children voluntarily carried stones from the nearby area, to be used for the foundations of “their” coveted Church! And now… St. John the Theologian stands in a prominent position in their village and welcomes what ever the noble souls of the faithful have to offer. The visit of His Beatitude Theodoros II the Patriarch of Alexandria was a special blessing to their village, where he celebrated the Thyranoixia (Opening of the Doors) of the Holy Church and blessed the nearby bore-hole, from which not only the villagers but also any passer-by draw water.

HOLY CHURCH OF THE TRANSFIGURATION OF OUR LORD, GOD AND SAVIOR, ST. PORPHYRIUS THE KAFSOKALYVITE AND ST. FOTIUS THE GREAT INIGAGITUNGU

The Holy Temple in Igangidugu

Igagitungu is located two hours northwest of the Kindamali Mission Center. To get there, one crosses a breathtaking route through age-old trees and small villages, which are located along the dirt road. The Holy Church of the Transfiguration of our Lord, God and Savior, St. Porphyrius and St. Fotius the Great is built at an altitude of 2000 m., upon a plot that was donated by the President of the BoD, Elder Maximos. The Thyranoixia (Opening of the Doors) ceremony was celebrated by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa during his missionary tour in Central Tanzania. It is worth nothing that prior to the construction of the Holy Church, the liturgical needs of the faithful were served by a grass-hut, which they built themselves with the few tools available to them and the humble materials collected from the nearby area.

HOLY CHURCH OF ST. PAISIOS THE ATHONITE AND ST. LUKE THE SURGEON IN MASHEGE

Mashege is a remote village at an altitude of 2000 m. in the Dambanga area of South Tanzania, near the border with Zambia. It is four hours far from the Kindamali Mission Center and it is of indescribable beauty! This village has the blessing to now have a beautiful church in honor of St. Paisios the Athoniteand St. Luke the Surgeon. His Beatitude Theodoros II, the Patriarch of Alexandria, celebrated the service of the Sanctification of the Water (Agiasmos) for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Holy Church and blessed the nearby bore-hole, which now serves the needs of the villagers, because water is hard to find at this altitude and everyone, young and old, had to travel tenths of kilometers every day in order to fill even one bucket from a nearby stream, which for quite a long time was dry.

HOLY CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION OF OUR MOST-HOLY LADY, THE THEOTOKOS, IN IGANGIMALE

Igangimale is located near the Kindamali Mission Center. Thedirtroadthatleadsthereisimpassable, yet this fact did not stop the construction of the Holy Church in their village. In fact, during the first visit of his Grace Bishop Agathonikos, they had chosen the location where the Holy Church was finally built: at the highest point of the village, from where you have full view of the entire nearby area. During the first catechism, young and old, sat in the shade of a tree and sucked in, like the thirsty earth, the words of the Bishop. Now, the Holy Church of the Assumption of our Most-Holy Lady, the Theotokos, in Igangimale is a reference point for the nearby area, as many of our native brothers and sisters find shelter to the Church of our Most-Holy Lady!

The Holy Monastery that is under constructionis located near the Mission Center of Kindamali, Iringa.

The Church of the monastery has already been built in honor of the Archangel Michael and St. Minas the Great Martyr and St. Paisius Velichkovsky. The Holy Church, which is if Byzantine architecture, is a gem for the entire Tanzania!

Works are being carried out for the reconstruction of the monastic cells and auxiliary facilities for the monastic fraternity that is about to be established in Tanzania, are in progress.
