MISSION CENTER OF IRINGA
A SAFE HAVEN OF REFUGE FOR THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN!
The Iringa region is admittedly the most difficult region of Tanzania. Poverty is not the only threat to our needy brothers and sisters. Many contagious diseases, rare in their majority, take the lives of thousands of our fellow human beings, thus leaving orphaned and unprotected children behind.
The Mission Center of the Diocese of Arusha and Central Tanzaniain Kindamali, Iringa, is a safe haven of refuge for thousands of our tormented and suffering brothers and sisters.
Tenths of children come daily, after school, to play, receive a small meal and feel the comfort and warmth that’s radiating from the face of his Grace Bishop Agathonikos, a feeling that does not exists in the humble grass-huts.
The Mission Center was renovated with the help of our Association, sothatits structures may now meet the increasingly great needs of our fellow human beings.
There is a girls’ orphanage operating in the Center, while recently, during the renovation works, a boys’ orphanage was also established. Moreover, areas were set up that are appropriatefor learning English, holding catechism and conducting seminars for both the clergy and the laity of the Diocese.
The renovation of the two Holy Churches of St. Andronicus and his wife St. Athanasia(this being the first orthodox church in Tanzania) and of St. George and Our Most-Holy Lady of Kykkos, which, along with the adjacent monastery under construction and the polyclinic, constitute a well-organized and functional ensemble.
The Kindamali Mission Center is a reference point for thousands of our native brothers and sisters of all ages, who go there to ease their soul from the innumerable difficulties they face every day.
