In the Orthodox Mission in Africa, where peoples are plagued by poverty, the love of the Church finds ways to be put into practice, to be transformed into ministry, offering, and a living testimony of faith.
With a spirit of love and silent service, priests of the Holy Metropolis of Arusha and nuns of the Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael in Kindamali traveled to the Holy Church of Saint Parthenios in the village of Mkobe, where they distributed clothing and footwear to our young and old brothers and sisters—residents of the area who are daily tried by poverty and deprivation. Their presence became a source of comfort and hope, as love was expressed in a tangible way through care and genuine concern for the poor inhabitants of the village.
The items distributed are offerings from people in Greece and were sent to Tanzania by container. They are gradually distributed to the poor residents of the villages, so that as many needs as possible may be met.
This charitable work is carried out with the blessing and pastoral care of His Eminence, Metropolitan of Arusha, Mr. Agathonikos, and is part of the broader missionary ministry of the Holy Metropolis. Supporting this effort is also our Association,“Missionary Shelter of Saint Dionysios of Olympus.”Many of the Association’s members and donors offer basic necessities, clothing, and items for the children of Africa, providing continuous and tangible support to the missionary work.
With the same faith and hope, we look forward to the next container mission, praying that it will receive the same heartfelt response. We hope that the love of us all, once again, will cross the oceans and reach this corner of Africa, where every offering becomes a blessing and every gift a source of joy and hope.
Mission is the touch of the Church upon the wounds of the world. Through this silent yet powerful ministry, love becomes action—care and consolation for the suffering person. Through every offering, the name of God is glorified, and the living witness of faith is revealed, illuminating human hearts with the radiance and power of love.
