On the feast of the Assembly of the Honorable and Glorious Prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist John, the Holy Church of the Honorable Forerunner in the village of Tungamalenga celebrated its feast day. On this occasion, His Eminence Agathonikos, Metropolitan of Arusha, visited the village and presided over the Divine Liturgy at the holy altar.
After the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence performed the blessing and inaugurated the borehole, which was dug in the courtyard of the Holy Church through the care of the Holy Metropolis of Arusha and the Missionary Shelter. This project constitutes a substantial and vital contribution to the residents of the area, as it decisively improves their daily life. The new borehole is a source of life and love, from which both young and old, as well as the animals of the region, will now have access to precious drinking water, without the need for long and arduous journeys to obtain it, as had been the case until now. In this way, the Holy Church becomes a place of both spiritual and physical refreshment.
The village president, expressing the common sentiment, along with the residents, warmly thanked His Eminence Metropolitan Agathonikos for his tireless, fatherly, and continual concern for the faithful and the parishes of his Metropolis. They particularly emphasized his care not only for the spiritual cultivation and support of the flock but also for the daily, essential needs of the people, which he addresses with discernment, love, and practical philanthropy.
Furthermore, both the villagers and our association express heartfelt gratitude to the benefactor, Mr. Voinea Bogdan from Romania, who generously provided the necessary funds for the borehole, leaving an indelible mark of charity and active Christian love. The local community will benefit from this work for many years. They prayed that Almighty God may repay him a hundredfold for his love and mercy, grant him health, and strengthen him in every good work of his life.
Subsequently, a “meal of love” was offered, provided by an anonymous donor, in memory of the blessed Athanasios.
The Missionary Shelter of Saint Dionysius of Olympus continues consistently and responsibly to support the pastoral and charitable work of the Holy Metropolis of Arusha, standing close to the people, sharing in their struggles and hardships, and working tirelessly for their relief and well-being. May we all continue together this blessed work for the glory of God.
