With ecclesiastical splendor, the feast of the Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael was celebrated at the missionary center of the Holy Metropolis of Arusha, in Kindamali, Iringa Province. The atmosphere was filled with joy and thanksgiving, as the faithful of the region—Tanzanians and Greeks alike—gathered to honor the heavenly Commander of the Angelic Hosts and to receive blessings from the Grace of God.
On the eve of the feast, Great Vespers was celebrated, and on the feast day itself, Matins and the Festal Divine Liturgy were held. Archimandrite Nikiforos conveyed the heartfelt wishes of His Eminence Metropolitan Agathonikos of Arusha to the sisters and the congregation. After the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a common meal of love was offered to all present—a generous donation by the H.M.T. in memory of their departed relatives.
The Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael is the first women’s monastery in Central Tanzania. By the Grace of God and under the guidance of Abbess Chrysostomi, the monastery continues to grow steadily. In the future, young women from Tanzania who feel a calling to the monastic life and desire to dedicate themselves entirely to Christ will find there a home and spiritual rest. Under the protection of the Archangel, a new generation of nuns is being nurtured—bearers of the light of Orthodoxy and the hope of eternal life on African soil.
Our Association tirelessly supports the life of the Monastery. Through the love and assistance of the members and benefactors of the Missionary Shelter, the daily material needs of the sisterhood are met, the buildings are expanded, and the charitable work of the nuns is strengthened. The sisterhood labors daily, not only for its own spiritual edification but also for the support of the local flock. The love and prayers of the sisters accompany all the benefactors.
We pray that the Archistrategos Michael, guardian and defender of the Church, may protect all collaborators and friends of the mission, granting them health, peace, and abundant spiritual fruitfulness. May the grace of the Lord strengthen the labors of the nuns and bless all their works.
