HOLY CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE THEOLOGIAN IN IMBOGO

Holy Temple St. John the Theologian Ibogo with the adjacent drilling
Imbogo is a secluded village that is an hour far from the Kindamali Mission Center, home to one hundred and fifty people, former Roman-Catholics who have unanimously converted to Orthodoxy! Although their living conditions are not reminiscent of the “civilized” world, when asked what they need the most, they all shouted kanisa”, meaning Church! In order for there construction to begin, the entire village, men, women, and children voluntarily carried stones from the nearby area, to be used for the foundations of “their” coveted Church! And now… St. John the Theologian stands in a prominent position in their village and welcomes what ever the noble souls of the faithful have to offer. The visit of His Beatitude Theodoros II the Patriarch of Alexandria was a special blessing to their village, where he celebrated the Thyranoixia (Opening of the Doors) of the Holy Church and blessed the nearby bore-hole, from which not only the villagers but also any passer-by draw water.
